QUESTIONS

Common questions

What stays on my PC, and what doesn’t?+
Stays on your PC
  • Your chats, memory and settings
  • The models, and everything they write
  • Voice: speech recognition and the Kokoro voices run on your PC
  • Your files: LCOA only reads a folder you have allowed
Uses the internet, only when you use it
  • Web search: your search words go to Bing
  • Downloading a model: from a public download host
  • Signing in with Google: your sign-in passes through LCOA’s account server, and Gmail and Calendar are fetched from Google for the access you approve
  • The waitlist: your email, kept in our website’s Netlify storage
  • Paid plans, once checkout opens: the payment goes to Stripe, and the app renews a licence by sending only its id
Does it remember things about me?+

Yes. LCOA keeps short notes on your PC: what you ask it to remember, and facts it saves while you talk. Ask “what do you remember about me” to see them, and ask it to forget any of them. Nothing is synced anywhere. Chats and notes stay on this computer.

Does it work without the internet?+

Kokoro voices and English speech recognition work locally after installation. Chat works offline after you download a model. This edition contains no chat-model weights. Web search, downloads, and connected services need the internet.

What’s in the download?+

The Windows desktop app, native CPU runtime, realistic Kokoro voices, and English listening model. No chat models are preinstalled in this edition. Choose a Trixe model in Settings and download it before using model chat. Separate Node, Python, or Ollama installation is not required for the included runtime and voice features.

Which computer do I need?+

An x64 Windows PC, preferably Windows 11 with at least 16 GB RAM and several gigabytes of free storage. ARM64 and 32-bit builds aren’t included. Performance depends on your hardware.

What are Free and Plus?+

Free includes Trixe, Trixe Nano and Trixe Code, 15 voice minutes per day, and 10 Google API requests per day. Plus is $10 USD per month, or $99 USD per year, and unlocks all supported models, unlimited voice mode and removes the daily Google-request allowance. Checkout is being prepared; the waitlist does not collect payment. Hardware limits and Google’s own quotas still apply.

How do LCOA accounts work?+

Open Settings, Account and choose Sign in with Google. Google connects Gmail and Calendar after you approve access. Basic account sign-in is separate from optional Gmail and Calendar access; those optional permissions remain limited while Google verification is pending. In this beta, sign-in goes over HTTPS through LCOA’s own account server, which can be briefly unavailable; while it is, you can’t sign in. Google identity is verified over HTTPS. Your local passcode protects this PC’s profile and is never uploaded. Each identity opens an encrypted local profile. Chats and settings stay on your PC and are not synced. Sign out to revoke the server session and lock the local profile.

How do I start voice mode?+

Leave the chat bar empty and click its microphone button. Allow microphone access in Windows if asked. Conversation text is hidden while you talk; End returns you to text chat. The button disappears when you type a message.

Do updates keep my chats and models?+

Yes. Updating keeps your chats, settings and downloaded model files.

Is this ready for everyone?+

Public launch is planned for November 12. LCOA launches as a beta: it is unsigned, and final release checks are in progress. Models can give incorrect answers. Review important outputs and file changes. Contact ethan.ai.ganz@gmail.com for support.

Can LCOA send email or delete my files?+

It cannot send email: with Google connected it can read mail and save drafts, and you send them yourself. Files it removes go to the Recycle Bin, after a preview and your yes.

Is there a Mac, Linux or phone version?+

Not yet. LCOA is a Windows x64 beta. A Mac build is being worked on and has not been tested on real hardware, so the site does not offer it.

How does updating work?+

Automatic updates are off in this beta. When a new version is out you download and install it yourself.

Can other programs use my models?+

On Plus, yes. LCOA has a local OpenAI-style API and an MCP server, both on your own PC. See “For developers” on the Explore page.

How do I remove LCOA?+

Uninstall it from Apps in Windows Settings. Your chats, memory and settings stay in LCOA’s folder until you delete that folder.

Is my Google account safe to connect?+

Connecting is optional and uses Google’s own sign-in. LCOA asks to read mail, save drafts, and read and add calendar events you approve. It has no way to send mail. You can disconnect in Settings, or remove LCOA at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
